What are Fish Wind Sculptures?
Fish Wind Sculptures are metal and other natural material sculptures that are designed and hand‑created to swim in the wind. Each fish is balanced so breezes create a lifelike swimming motion and naturally points toward the wind. Please visit our video library to see them in action.
What size are the sculptures?
The sculptures range from about 12 in long × 6 in tall up to 42 in long × 35 in tall. Widths vary from 2–8 in and weights run between 2 lb and 16 lb.
How are the sculptures finished?
We offer several finishes—from a deep weathered rust to clear‑ground metal that mimics fish scales in sunlight. Clear‑metal pieces can receive translucent color washes and hand‑painted markings to match specific species. Have a custom finish in mind? Contact us—we love special projects.
Installation & Maintenance
How do I install a sculpture?
All sculptures rotate on a metal pivot pole that lets them swim freely.
Small & medium fish: welded flat‑metal base (12–24 in high) for table‑top or patio display—height is chosen when ordering.
Large fish: three‑part in‑ground pole system. Drive the ground stake, attach the pivot pole (about 2 ft), and optionally add the extender to reach up to 4 ft.
Are there other installation options?
Yes. Very small to medium fish can be mounted on natural‑stone bases. Contact us for stone choices, pricing, and delivery options—weight and distance may affect cost.
How do I maintain the sculpture?
Finishes weather at different rates. Deep‑rust pieces are sealed with automotive clear‑coat and need only occasional wiping. Clear‑grind and painted fish can be left to patina or protected with periodic automotive wax. Location matters—pieces under cover weather much more slowly.
Are the sculptures safe around children and pets?
The sculptures are metal kinetic pieces that move and may have sharp angles. Install them where they won’t be bumped or reached by children or pets, and take extra care with sharper‑profile species such as bass or shark.
Ordering
Can I order sculptures directly from the website?
Absolutely. Default mounting is an in‑ground stake for large and extra‑large fish, a 12 in stand for very small & small fish, and an 18 in stand for medium fish. Need something different? Message us at checkout or beforehand and we’ll set it up.
Can I order multiple sculptures?
Yes—they look stunning in a school. Wind ripples through them and they start swimming in unison. We offer a school discount on multi‑fish orders.
Delivery Options
Is delivery included?
Delivery is partially subsidized but not free: $39 for small, $49 for medium, and $59 for large sculptures (mount included). Because these pieces are kinetic and heavy, they require substantial packing materials and time.
If you’re near our Calistoga, CA studio you can pick up your sculpture for free, or coordinate local delivery when we’re at events. Stone bases may incur extra freight—we’ll quote exact costs after you choose a stone.
